I have a note on my phone that’s almost two years old. It just says this:
Infinite Tetris The lower you get, the faster the pieces fall, the higher the peices stack, the slower they fall. Need to figure out how to have AI drop the best piece possible
I’ve looked at this note probably once a month since I wrote it in July 2024.
As I’ve seen this note and various others lately, I’ve thought that maybe a personal blog is the reasonable end point for them.
I’m probably never going to build this ‘infinite Tetris’ project, but I also would probably never delete the note because “what if at some point in the future, I suddenly have a ton of free time and no inclination towards anything else to work on? Then I’ll look at my notes and see this idea and finally make it and attach some ads to it and get famous…” (or something along those lines).
What’s more likely is that every few weeks or so, I will feel that tug of productivity guilt (is that a thing?) and I’ll go to remake my todo list and scroll through all my old notes and feel guilty that I’ve let another month go by while I sat on an absolute gem like “infinite Tetris”.
But now… now that I’ve turned that note into a blog post that, let’s be honest, absolutely rips… now I can delete the note and move on with my life.
I don’t want to speculate too heavily, but I think that old notes may end up here on my blog.
And if you happen to have the motivation, time and skills to make infinite Tetris a reality, more power to you. Drop me a link, I’d love it try it out.
